Our Farm, Our Family, Our HistoryThe land now occupied by and surrounding Cardinal Ridge Orchard has been farmed since the 17th century. The Victorian-era log farmhouse built in 1865 is the home of Pat and Kathy Harrington, proprietors of Cardinal Ridge Orchard. Both Pat and Kathy have been operating a small orchard since the first Golden Delicious and McIntosh trees were planted in 1986. Cardinal Ridge has expanded considerably since then, now encompassing fifteen acres and containing fifteen different varieties of apple trees, all grown using sustainable practices. Now in semi-retirement, Pat and Kathy are confident of Cardinal Ridge's continuity and success, as the orchard and family farm enters the new millennium.

Seasonal HoursIf you are here, we're open.
*** Preseason July 1 through August 20 While apples are not yet ready for harvest, there are still plenty of opportunities to purchase freshly harvested produce from your local farmer! For instance, the vegetable garden at Cardinal Ridge always has an abundance of tomatoes and peppers, and the Harrington family ensures plenty of succulent blackberries are available for purchase. Peak Season August 20 through October 31 At Cardinal Ridge, when we say peak season, we mean it! Along with a varied progression of apples through the autumn (Paula Red, Gala, McIntosh, Cortland, Honeycrisp, Red Delicious, Red Rome, and Empire), blackberries, peppers, squash, tomatoes, and other crops fresh from the garden make their debut. Sample some apple cider throughout the autumnal season, taking notice to the blends' changes. A wide selection of both decorative and edible squash are available to pick from at this time. And don't forget some apple butter or fruit preserves! Post Season (Had to close early this year as we are out of apples-Nov 2021} November 1 through December 23 The shop is still open! While most of our fall apples and other fruits are now sold out, winter apples - varieties that store for months on end - come into their own this time of the year. Stop on by for... more of Empire, Golden Delicious, Honeygold, Jonagold, Haralson, Fuji, Braeburn, and Granny Smith. Pick up some of Pat's winter ciders, and don't forget Kathy's apple butter. Off-Season Christmas Eve through August 19 The shop is closed during the off-season. However, the public is welcome to visit the orchard throughout the year. The spring blossom in May is particularly special! |
